I noticed Darin made a new best pass so I would post it here:
This car has a stock rear-end with IRS, LSD, and stock axles, air conditioning, and weighs around 3500 lbs. I’ll save you the time writing HOLY MOTHER CAN SUPRAS TRAP.
Here’s the fastest claimed Supra from a year ago for comparison:
Wicked MPH, terrible ET. The reason? It’s a simple way not to get kicked off the track for being too fast: roll out to start the clock, count to 3, then hit the gas. I know I did this when I was running my friend’s mid-11 second 911 Turbo at Battle of the Imports. Too bad the jackasses DQ’d me for other reasons I won’t get into. *sigh*
Just a heads-up folks — I’ve made some major updates to the Car Acceleration Database that I coded up a while back. It’s still far from anything I’d want to show to an advertiser or loved one, but it’s a start toward a neat project that I’m passionate about.
What’s new?
-Ajax sorting of data by year, manufacturer, model, 0-60 times, and 1/4 mile ET
-Google links to images, videos, and information about each car
-Filter by brand name or year
-Ability to add stock cars that are missing
What doesn’t work yet?
-A real “search” feature
-Paginated data for all items (the 2nd page of data is by default always the 2nd page of quarter mile entries, not the 2nd page of horsepower ratings, for example)
-Horsepower/weight/other data for every car
It hits the 180 KM/Hour (111.6 MPH) governor yet still manages an 11.67. It likely would not run the quarter much faster with the speed limiter removed, but the trap speed would probably be slightly higher. Still, not too shabby.
