Back in my younger years I was a bit of a trouble maker. I raced on the streets of California and generally acted like an irresponsible kid because well, I was one. I stopped many years ago but around that time I created this compilation video. I forgot I had pieced it together until I found a whole DVD packed full of car videos in my old folder. I’m posting this online for the first time now.
The quality sucks (some of this footage was from 1999 or 2000, and at the latest early 2002) and most of this may not look very exciting, but there’s some pretty fun stuff that reminds me of my early days with cars and as a teenager. I was either driving, filming, or witnessed every video here, and know every person in every clip. For example, my Talon appears quite a bit (it ran mid-13s around this time), including a few passes at the Famoso raceway. There’s one where I’m racing a really loud Honda and I barely nudge it out at the end getting the win light. I was also driving my friend’s black 911 Turbo in the clip against a 13-second Ford Focus.
The very last clip in this video is in-car of my first night at the drag strip. On this run, my boost was higher than it was supposed to be and my upper intake hose blew-off mid-run. The car coasted through the traps and stalled. I thought I had blown up my motor. I echo the words “Something’s dead dude” before the video fades out. Ahh, memories.
Since I made this many years ago the editing quality is not top notch so please don’t hold it against me. Enjoy!
It’s powered by a Cosworth rally 4-cylinder turbo motor and does 0-62 MPH in five seconds flat. There’s a very detailed picture album showing the restoration and build-up of this Model A here.
Ford GT drivers must have some friction with police (remember the last video, Ford GT runs from Police?)
This guy was on another gumball run and was busted for speeding. The dialog between the cop and the driver is pretty funny. There’s also a nice doughnut at the end from a mighty Corvette.
I thought I’d post these few up before I passed out for the night.
Here’s Dan Millen’s high 6-second outlaw Mustang making a Burger King run on an icy day:
Here’s a 7 second car that can be “driven” on the street:
And here’s one of the closest calls I’ve seen in my life:
As the anti-biker, I can’t really relate to what this must be like to throw my ass between cars while going over 100 MPH. The closest I get is in videos people post online of their first person riding experiences. Some are crazier than others with what seems like a deathwish. Take the Ghost Rider example (skip about a minute in if you’re bored):
