I’ve heard people speak of the Aptera as if it’s vaporware or will never be built. These videos show prototypes in action.

Tesla Roadster Test Drive

The Telsa’s a completely electric sports car that has 260 HP and goes from 0-60 in 4 seconds flat. It does cost $92,000, but it’s pretty, nimble, and quite fast. The fuel equivalent is about 135 MPG and it can go over 200 miles on a full charge.

Edmunds has test driven the Tesla Roadster, and added video to its site.

“Tesla Motors’ electric roadster is a real sports car that packs performance and fun into a Lotus-derived package powered by 6,831 laptop batteries. We know because we’ve driven it. Finally.”

Here’s an older promo video featuring this car in action:

Japanese Magnetic Hybrid Motorcycle

Plug it in, charge it up, then ride a silent motorcycle up to 112 miles. I usually won’t post stuff like this here, but I thought this was neat because of the mechanics (er, magnetics?) involved. Tokyo-based Axle Corporation says that the battery of the next-generation electric vehicle motorbike can be charged at home, in the same way as a cellular phone. It takes a little over 6 hours to fully charge the battery, and the vehicle’s maximum speed is capable of reaching 150 kilometres per hour (93 miles per hour).

I’m glad to see magnetic motors being brought into mainstream. Who knows when we’ll get anything like this state-side, though.
