Here’s a short documentary showing the build-up and road testing of a twin turbo Ford GT that aims to put out about 1000 horsepower to the wheels. The owner wanted a car he could drive and race on the street. The result is two Garret G35 ball bearing turbos replacing the stock supercharger. They use the Ford air-water intercooler, but have to fabricate plenty of custom parts to make it all work. It shows a road test with about 820 RWHP / 700+ RWTQ toward the end of the video:

Dan Millen’s outlaw Mustang puts down 2000 RWHP, pegging the dyno.

Pro-Drive’s P2 does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, and is equipped with the same motor as the STi (except has a bigger turbo and a lot less weight to drag around).

Top Gear reviewed the car here. One of the coolest things about this car is its anti-lag feature, similar to a rally car. It keeps the turbo spooled between shifts and makes lots of neat sounds (damn, I wish my Talon could do that!). It also has a very smart computer allowing the torque to transfer between the front and rear ends of the car effectively making it handle better, taking it around the Stig’s test track nearly as fast as a Zonda.

The video claims the car has 1700 HP. It runs an 8.75@163 in full weight trim (no rollcage, even!) with a 1.63 60-foot without a spool.

I first heard the Saleen S7R at Laguna Seca during an ALMS event and will never forget it. The exhaust sounds very unique, especially when it passes by at high speeds.
